I’ve known a handful of accidental millionaires in my life.
When I say millionaires, I mean multi-million millionaires.
Like, money-is-no-object millionaires. At least that’s the way it seemed to me.
While I found myself being a wee bit envious of their bank account, I never once wanted to trade places with them.
It seemed their accidental fortune-making led to flat-out unhappiness or worse, self-destructive behavior.
They weren’t unlike the lottery winner you read about who wins the lottery and then ends up being broke within a year or 2. (How do they spend all that money?)
The difference is that the millionaires I met still had their money, but they were a different kind of broke. They were an emotional broke.
They lacked purpose. And sooner or later, that caught up to them.
I think it catches up to all of us.
You choose: Purpose or squat
When I’m coaching folks we go through a centering exercise that is meant to slow things down and get in tune with ourselves. It’s the prerequisite to any coaching session.
My clients present differently after moments of centering. I present differently, too.
It’s from this place of centering that we can begin to feel when our actions are not aligned with the life we have or the one we are building.
It’s here that we can begin to imagine what a more fulfilled life could look like for ourselves, our mates, and our families. We find purpose, or at least a path to it.
This change in perspective can mean the difference between waking up with a sense of aliveness or not. To looking forward to Monday or wishing “Happy Friday” was here again.
Stop living for the weekends
If you want more from your weekdays, consider executive coaching. If you’re tired of being tired, consider executive coaching. If you can’t tell which way is up, consider executive coaching.
No, executive coaching is not the latest greatest panacea (I think that award is currently being held by AI).
Coaching is different. It’s designed to facilitate different perspectives. It’s designed to facilitate sustainable change that sticks.
And that’s the closest to actual magic you can get.
