I’ve always wanted to work for myself. When I say “always,” I mean it was a thought for 20 years before I stepped into my own full-time business.
I’ve been self-employed for 6+ years now. It hasn’t always been easy. “Easy” isn’t why did it, and anything worth doing is rarely easy. I can say that I have no regrets. Zero. That feels good to say.
Here are a handful of big regrets I hear consistently:
– The one that got away.
– The risk you didn’t take.
– The job you stayed in for years too long.
– The mountain you didn’t climb (literal or otherwise).
– The trip you didn’t take that could have changed your life.
I hope reading that list stirred something in you … something you want for yourself.
A buddy of mine expressed to me years ago, “There is a lot of power in knowing what you want.” I was reminded of that this past week, chatting with a friend about regrets. I’m fortunate to have folks around me who share their perspectives in ways that help me shift mine.
But what do you do if you don’t know 1) what you want or 2) you are struggling to build the thing you want?
Here are a few options to explore:
1 – Dennis Walker posted about a mushroom retreat (you know the kind) in Jamaica earlier today. He calls it “The Laughter is Medicine Retreat” which sounds pretty darn fun if you ask me. How can laughter and fun help you get what you want or find your focus? From my experience, operating in a high vibration is where creativity happens, and good decisions are made. This sounds like a high-vibe time to me.
2 – Find a meetup. Find multiple. San Diego (where I live) has quite a few meetups, and Jonah Peake 🐺 does a great job at putting them all together in an easy-to-consume newsletter so you can plan your month around them. Meetups can be great places to chat with like-minded people and those who share similar situations. They can be great places to gain clarity and inspiration. Eventship is also a great place to find meetups. If you don’t find a meetup that interests you, create one.
3 – One-to-one coaching. If you find more value in one-on-one support, let’s explore together. We will set up a time to connect and explore how coaching can support you.
Regrets. We are all going to have them. I want fewer of them.
What do you want?
